Managing Director (acting)
Ken is a Professional Agrologist with over 30 years experience providing advisory services in socio-economics and natural resource policy to government ministries, businesses and First Nations.
Ken provides Borealis with support on issues relating to public policy, agriculture, land use and bio-diversity.
Ken has a BSc in agriculture economics from the University of British Columbia. He is a past president of the BC Institute of Agrologists and a member of the BC Forest Appeals Commission and the BC Environmental Appeal Board. Born in the BC mountains, he returns to them when he can to ski and hike. Ken lives in Prince George with his wife, Susan.
Director of Forestry
David is a Registered Professional Forester with almost 20 years experience in northern BC and has been a highly regarded collaborator on many projects both for industry and government. David’s business acumen and teambuilding skills are evident in the success of his own forestry consulting company, Kim Forest Management.
Borealis relies on David’s professional expertise in forestry resource management, deep understanding of Northern BCs ecologies, silviculture, and legislation as well as his positive relationships built with First Nations, industry, and government.
David holds B.Sc.F. from University of Toronto and a Diploma in Advanced Silviculture from University of British Columbia. He is the past Treasurer for Consulting Foresters of British Columbia; a long standing member of Canadian Institute of Forestry; and a member of the Public Advisory Group for Canadian Forest Products and BC Timber Sales for their certification under Canadian Standards Association for Tree Farm Licence 30.
Director of Operations
Duane first came to Northern British Columbia from Saskatchewan to plant trees in 1991 and joined the north’s largest reforestation and silviculture firm in 1995, becoming CEO in 2006 and over-seeing the annual planting of over 12 million trees by nearly 700 workers. He brings over ten years experience in forest health, silviculture and reforestation to Borealis as well as considerable skills in operations management and logistics.
Duane guides Borealis’ project delivery and afforestation operations.
Duane holds a B.Sc. from the University of Saskatchewan. When not coaching hockey, he is active with the Prince George Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses. Duane lives in Prince George with his wife and two children.
Finance Director
Dean is a chartered accountant with nearly 30 years experience and is the founding partner of Northern British Columbia’s largest independent accounting, audit and advisory firm.
As Finance Director, Dean brings his considerable experience to Borealis in project finance and the long term financial protection of carbon stocks. Dean also focuses on ensuring the long term financial health of Borealis as a measure to guarantee the permanence of our offsets.
A pillar of the community in Prince George, Dean works with several museums and cultural institutions and is involved in numerous civic improvement initiatives. He lives and works with his wife, Judy, in Prince George.
Director of Cultural Heritage
Frank is an archaeologist and anthropologist with fifteen years experience in archaeology and cultural resource management in British Columbia and the United Kingdom. Frank has contributed significantly to the preservation of First Nations cultural history in British Columbia, including the recent discovery of a site over 10,000 years old. Frank is a founding partner and director of an innovative and growing archaeology and cultural resource management firm with offices and operations across Northern British Columbia.
Frank applies his significant experience to ensure the protection and preservation of First Nations cultural heritage during Borealis’ afforestation project development.
Frank holds a BA in archaeology and anthropology from the University of British Columbia and is a Registered Professional Consulting Archaeologist. Born and raised in BC’s interior, Frank lives with his wife (also an archaeologist) and two children in Vanderhoof, BC.
