Borealis Carbon Offsets and EcoSecurities announce global marketing partnership

February 2, 2009

Borealis Carbon Offsets Ltd. and EcoSecurities Group plc are pleased to announce a global marketing partnership that will take high quality afforestation emissions removals developed in British Columbia, Canada, to the international voluntary carbon offset market.

Jeff Calvert, Managing Director of Borealis, said “we are pleased to be able to access global markets through our partnership with EcoSecurities.

“The international voluntary carbon markets will help us to mitigate the economic and social damage caused by the mountain pine beetle epidemic in north-central British Columbia and create new opportunities for local employee-owned and operated firms.

“That a leading firm such as EcoSecurities recognises the value in the professional skills and capacity resident in Northern British Columbia is a strong endorsement for the region.”

Steve Gutmann, Senior Manager of Commercialisation for EcoSecurities added “we have been seeing an increased interest in forestry projects in the voluntary markets, but it was important for us to find projects that could meet EcoSecurities’ quality benchmarks.”

Borealis' McPhee Creek Project is the first forestry project to have been vetted, approved and posted on EcoSecurities’ ProjectNet, featuring over 40 CCAR, VCS and Gold Standard offset projects around the world.

About Borealis Carbon Offsets

Borealis creates healthy and bio-diverse forest ecosystems that absorb carbon and permanently store it.  We are passionate about forests and what they do for the health of our planet.

Borealis is a group of employee-owned and operated firms in Northern British Columbia with deep professional experience in silviculture, forest health and ecology. We have come together to find new opportunities as our communities come to terms with the social and economic impacts of the mountain pine beetle epidemic, which has destroyed over 13 million hectares of pine forest, an area larger than Nova Scotia and New Brunswick combined.

Businesses seeking to offset as part of an emissions footprint reduction strategy rely on Borealis' integrated value chain to provide superior levels of quality, transparency, long term management and mitigation of risk.

Borealis is a privately held corporation registered in British Columbia, Canada. Additional information is available at www.borealisoffsets.com
